Ottawa New Home Market Hits Mid-Year with Strong Growth

July 21, 2026, OTTAWA, ON — New home sales in Ottawa continued to post strong year-over-year growth in June, with 490 sales recorded, up 31 per cent compared to June 2025, when 374 homes were sold. Sales were down 21.2 per cent from May, which saw 622 new home sales. Year-to-date sales now stand at 2,670, up 49 per cent from last year’s total of 1,792.

“At the midway point of 2026, Ottawa’s new home sales remain well ahead of last year,” said Jason Burggraaf, Executive Director of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. “The new home HST rebate is helping more buyers qualify and move off the sidelines, and builders are looking forward to the additional impact the Development Charge Reduction Program could have in the months ahead. Every reduction helps improve affordability and bring more buyers into the market.”
