New Home Sales Remain Strong as Ottawa Market Heads into Summer
June 19, 2026, OTTAWA, ON — New home sales in Ottawa continued to show strong year-over-year growth in May, with 622 sales recorded, up 97.5 per cent compared to May 2025, when 315 homes were sold. Sales were down 16.4 per cent from April, which saw 744 new home sales. Year-to-date sales now stand at 2,180, up 53.7 per cent from last year’s total of 1,418.
“While May saw a modest month-over-month decline, the broader trend remains very encouraging for Ottawa’s new home market,” said Jason Burggraaf, Executive Director of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. “The new home sales tax credit has helped stimulate activity and further clarification on how the program will be implemented should help drive even greater confidence in the months ahead. Ottawa’s builders are encouraged by this momentum and are looking forward to it carrying into the summer.”
