Spaciousness is beauty
The homeowners wanted two main things. They wanted to improve the efficiency of their home. And they wanted plenty of room for family and friends. Their home is an older one on a tight lot, so it was a challenge.
The Conscious Builder did it, though, and you’ll be able to see the results at Reno Tour, Oct. 15, from 10 am to 4 pm.
This third annual Reno Tour, hosted by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders Association Renovators’ Council and the Ottawa RenoMark® program, is a true insider’s view of the results of beautiful award-winning renovations.
To satisfy the homeowners’ wishes The Conscious Builder substantially increased their home’s square footage. The company created a large entertaining area that flows into the existing family room.
The kitchen is now open to the rest of the main floor so everyone can stay connected. The dropped sun room and glass railings allow the light to flow through.
They enlarged the master bedroom and added an ensuite bathroom as well as a separate bathroom for guests.
To increase the home’s efficiency, The Conscious Builder accomplished a great deal. With significantly increased insulation, triple-glazed windows, LED fixtures throughout, energy-efficient appliances, a zoned-cold- climate forced air heat pump with a desuperheater and storage tank for domestic hot water preheat and a flow-through humidifier; low-flush toilets and low-flow faucets, energy use was drastically reduced.
Other features include planter boxes bordering the second floor balcony, an Enviroshake roof, and Maibec genuine wood siding. This is a great house for family and friends to come together in the heart of the city. Come and see it for yourself.
